Alice picked us up around 8:30 and we drove about an hour to the Summer Palace. It is a beautiful park that was also forbidden to the common people. I did not realize the Emporer had so many forbidden places. The Emporer's Mother wanted this park built just for her on her 60th birthday. She had a lot of control over her son's decisions and was known as the "Dragon Lady". The park is beautiful, it has a manmade lake and lots of beautiful walkways.
More steps for Kaitlyn! Beijing was the perfect place to take her to let her go up and down steps!

After a walk around the park we took a ride on a dragon boat across the lake. Since the guide on the boat was only speaking Chinese, we just enjoyed the scenery.

Terry was stopped a few times too for a photgraph! Since everyone else was taking pictures I thought I would too! HA!
After walking around Summer Palace we went to a local Chinese restaurant to eat dumplings. They were very tasty! Apparently Laura Bush enjoyed a dinner there as well, as we saw a photo of her on the wall with the chef.
The dumplings are white. That is Terry's coke. He had enough hot tea.
We then headed back to our hotel so Kaitlyn could take her usual afternoon nap. After she woke up we took a walk down the street. After exploring a bit we went back to our hotel and ate dinner outside. The weather was so much cooler than Singapore. Did you know Beijing is at about the same latitude as New York City?
