Alice picked us up at 8 and we drove an hour and half to The Great Wall of China! It was incredible! We took a cable car up the mountain to the wall then we walked and walked. We just couldn’t get enough of the beautiful sights. There were so many steps! Kaitlyn had a blast. She went up the steps until she was exhausted and couldn't go anymore! She fell down and scraped her knee. She got her first scraped knee on the Great Wall of China! I will have to write that in her memory book.

Kaitlyn's scraped knee on The Great Wall

Time to let her rest and have a ride.
The Great Wall is over 3,000 miles long. That is about from New York to LA. Can you imagine that? Contstruction of the wall started around 220 BC. It was really breathtaking! Although it was cloudy and our pictures didn't come out 100% clear, we were thankful the sun wasn't beating down on us. It would have been extremely hot. We still had an awesome view.

Taking a little break

We climbed the steep hill in the back. Our guide, Alice decided to wait for us here. She had already been to the Great Wall 4 times this month on different tours.

This was the only time I carried Kaitlyn. (down this hill). That extra 26 pounds on my back was a little too much for me. That's what Daddy's are for, right?
Look at this sweet baby sleeping.
We estimated our hike to be about two and half miles (round trip) in about 3 hours. Take note there were LOTS of steps.
We ate lunch at a local Chinese Restaurant near the wall. Delicious once again! Then we headed back to the hotel to let Kaitlyn finish her nap, but since she slept in the carrier she wanted to play instead. We went for a walk and ate at Mr. Pizza. Nothing was in English and the waiter only spoke Chinese, so we went by pictures and pointed. It turned out to be a huge stuff crust supreme. Good but huge! We went to bed early, we were worn out from the hike. My legs were sore for the next 3 days, but it was well worth it!

I can't think of a better place to get a first scraped knee! It looks like ya'll had an amazing time. I hope to travel to China one day. I also want to start my baby traveling early, so I may be asking you for international baby travel advice. :)
